Back Home Again – The Songs of John Denver, is a musical tribute to one of the most popular musical artists of all time. Covering the most-loved songs of Denver’s thirty-two year career, this is a highly entertaining show for all ages.

Featuring the voice of David Bradshaw, he is backed by a four-piece band that includes Musical Director/guitarist Greg Simm, bassist Mike Farrington Sr., keyboardist Julia Weir and the tasteful percussion of Michael (Beaver) Swinimer.

The show includes 22 of Denver’s best songs with a couple of surprises on the way. Re-live the magic of his music, which includes many hits that went to #1 throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s.

This final performance of MIPAC’s 2014-15 Performing Arts Series is an afternoon matinee on Sunday, June 7 at 2:00pm. This season, everyone gets the best price by buying early. Tickets are $25 in advance, $28 at the door (including taxes and fees), and are available at Windsor Home Hardware, or online at Ticketpro.ca.

Mermaid Imperial Performing Arts Centre

In 2003, Mermaid purchased the vacant Imperial Theatre at 106 Gerrish Street, right next door to the facility we had occupied since 1987.  Over the next several years, the stage was enlarged, the lobby was refurbished, and an improved backstage area was added on. The most recent improvements, a new lighting catwalk and backstage storage area were added in 2013. The renewed Mermaid Imperial Performing Arts Centre began offering an annual Entertainment Series starting in 2007. Since then, MIPAC has played host to a number of distinguished artists from across Canada.  Celebrated artists like Bruce Cockburn, George Canyon, Matt Andersen, Joe Sealy, Joel Plaskett, and Jill Barber have all performed on our stage.  With Windsor once again in the province-wide circuit of venues, we can again offer world-class entertainment for kids and adults here in our hometown.

The theatre is used for many purposes, including rehearsals for Mermaid’s own flagship productions; it is rented by a variety of community groups for events both public and private; it has been used for movie location filming; and Mermaid has begun using the theatre for school-time matinee performances for the benefit of area students and preschoolers, bringing world-class theatre to children from all around the Annapolis Valley.
